Pursuant to our mission statement, The Junior League of Houston, Inc. seeks to improve communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. There are a variety of ways that the League uses its resources to reach out to the community to offer aid. Outside Board Representatives

Members of The Junior League of Houston, Inc. have served as non-voting representatives on the board of directors of other nonprofit organizations almost since the League's inception. Nonprofit organizations seek League members for their boards for a variety of reasons. Most importantly, League members are well trained in nonprofit operations. They know how committees and boards operate and arrive armed with knowledge and experience from their volunteer work with the League. Click here to download an application. Community Emergency and Resource Contingency Funds

The purpose of the Community Emergency Contingency Fund is the distribution of monetary grants to address the emergency needs of tax exempt agencies.

The purpose of the Community Resource Contingency Fund is the distribution of monetary grants to address short term needs, with little time delay, of tax exempt agencies.

  • Preference shall be given to:
    • Agencies whose short term/emergency requests address critical human needs;
    • Agencies/projects facing the possibility of a temporary disruption of services;
    • Agencies who have not received Community Assistance Funds in the current year.
  • Generally, requests for fundraising drives, capital campaigns, building funds, sectarian religious projects, tuitions or seminars will not be considered.
  • Applicants must have a 501 (c) (3) status with the IRS.
  • Grants shall be restricted to agencies within Brazoria, Harris, Waller and Fort Bend Counties and benefit the residents of the same counties.
